Personal Digital Archiving

Personal digital archiving refers to the creation, processing, labelling, organisation and long-term preservation of digital data of private individuals. We at the Graz City Archive want to impart knowledge in order to support citizens of the city of Graz in preserving their personal data, primarily for themselves, but also for their family and friends.

Personal digital data is an essential element in preserving a picture of the present for the future: This is the only way for later generations to learn about life in the past. At the same time, however, our personal digital data is highly vulnerable: The change from one generation of hardware to another or the loss of a device has already been associated with irretrievable data loss for many. Information from and about us is often no longer within our personal sphere of influence. There are simple ways to remedy this!

We would like to support you in making your own personal data fit for the future. Find out more about our services.
